Accessing Digital Routes from ACA

Adventure Cycling will provide you with a web link that contains the shortcut code required to access the digital routes in the RWGPS mobile app. You will also be able to view the routes from a computer using the link provided by ACA.

Routes can be navigated with turn-by-turn voice navigation directly in the Ride with GPS mobile app or exported to your preferred GPS device.

Accessing on Mobile

 

  1. Download the Ride with GPS mobile app for free via the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Click Open Shortcut 
  3. Enter the shortcut code listed at the top of the web link shared by ACA or scan the QR code
  4. Click Download

This download will contain all of the routes, maps, and guides. The downloaded content will also be available 100% offline.

If you already have the RWGPS mobile app installed and are signed into an account, then you can simply click More > Open Shortcut and proceed with entering the code and downloading the content. 

You can get back to your account at any time by tapping the menu icon in the upper left corner and selecting Return to Account. You don't need to enter the shortcut code again to reaccess the routes, the downloaded experience will be accessible from your Home screen.

Export GPX Files on Mobile

You can export individual routes as GPX files from the Ride with GPS app after you have accessed your Experience.

  1. When viewing a route, tap the three dots in the upper right
  2. Click Export GPX

This GPX file can now be sent directly to your paired devices:

  • Garmin users can simply SAVE the GPX file within Garmin Connect, then use the three-dot menu in the upper right to select SEND TO DEVICE to load the route onto your paired device.
  • Wahoo users will open the GPX into the Wahoo ELEMNT companion app, SAVE and SYNC once the route displays within the app, then SYNC on your paired Wahoo device to load the route.

Export TCX and GPX Files on Web

Use the web link provided by ACA to export individual routes as TCX files and to bulk export GPX files with POI for your full route list. Routes are downloaded as TCX or GPX files, which can be loaded onto any GPS device. Learn more about exporting route GPS files to your Garmin and syncing routes to your Wahoo.

 

  • Export an individual TCX file by clicking the download icon next to the route.
  • Export all routes as GPX files with POI by clicking Export All at the bottom of the route list. This will download a single ZIP file containing all the routes.
 

FAQ

I purchased route files from ACA before January 31, 2025, how do I use those files?

Routes purchased before January 31, 2025 were not provided digitally. Check out our guide on Working with ACA Files for more information. 

How can I make edits to the digital routes provided?

You can personalize the routes by first exporting them as GPX files from the Ride with GPS app or by exporting them as TCX or GPX files from the website. You can then upload your GPX or TCX files to your Ride with GPS account. For more information on uploading routes to your account check out our guide: Upload Activities, Routes & GPS Files.

How do I include POI when I export GPS files?

Visit the web link provided by ACA and then select Export All to download a ZIP file. This ZIP file will have a GPX file for each route that includes POI.
