Share Rides and Routes

Bring others along for the ride. Send routes to your ride buddies and plan your next adventure, or tell the story of a memorable trip or tour, complete with photos that you took along the way.

Basic or Premium subscribers can Live Log their rides to share realtime ride progress. 

Share on the Web

You can share rides and routes directly from the website. To do so:

  1. When viewing a ride or route, click Share in the upper left corner.
  2. From there, select the method you'd like to use to share your ride or route.

Sharing Options

    • Facebook: Share directly in your newsfeed or, or select groups or individuals
    • X: Include the handles of anyone else on the ride or add hashtags.
    • Copy Link: Send the URL to anyone by pasting it into your preferred e-mail editor, another social network, website, or blog, etc.
    • Embed: Publish a custom view to your website or blog. 
    • More: Open a system menu allowing you to easily share the ride or route via other apps on your computer
    • Send a Link: Enter in a Friend's Ride with GPS username, or enter in an email address, and we'll send an email or notification with your ride or route!

 

You can also select to generate a QR Code or an Image for your ride or route by clicking on one of the tabs in the save menu. This allows you to easily download a QR Code or a summary image of your route or ride that can be easily shared with others.

Share routes and rides, your profile, and in-progress rides directly from the app.

Share a Route or Ride

Share a map image, or a direct link to the route or ride page. 

  1. To share a ride, look in Library > Rides. Routes can be found under Library > Routes. Tap on the ride or route that you want to share.
  2. Tap Share in the lower left corner.
  3. Select to share a link to the ride or an image of the ride map. 
  4. This will open your phone's sharing tools. Choose a person to share with via your phone's messaging app, or select a social media app. You can also share using email by tapping the email icon. Tap Copy to copy the URL to your clipboard, to paste wherever you choose.

Share a QR Code or Photo

From the Share menu, you can also choose to share a QR Code or a Photo by selecting one of these options from the top of the page.

QR Codes can be handy if you'd like to link your route or ride in a printed format, like a guidebook or flyer. They're also a quick way to share a route with a friend in person. QR codes can be scanned in your phone's camera app to open a link directly to the ride or route. 

The Photo option allows you to generate an image showing the ride or route's elevation profile, as well as some basic route statistics like elevation gain and distance, along with a photo of your choice. By tapping Choose Photo, you'll be able to choose from any of the photos that have been saved to your ride or route.

Note: The Photo option will only display if you have saved photos to your ride or route. Learn more about uploading photos to your ride here, or uploading photos to your route here.

Share your Profile

You can easily share your profile via a social app, text, email or using a shortcut code.

  1. Tap More > My Profile.
  2. Tap the share icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Select a person in your contacts or a social app to share your profile with. 

Add friends and followers for in-app updates on their published Ride with GPS activities. 

Use a QR Code

Create a unique code that others can scan in their RWGPS app, using their phone camera. Note: this option works best in person, or you can screenshot your code and share it with the recipient over email or social media. 

Access Your Profile QR Shortcut

  1. Log into your account on the app.
  2. Tap More in the lower right corner.
  3. Tap Follows > tap the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner.
  4. Tap View Your Nametag to reveal a scannable QR code. 
Note: for Android devices, you can use the steps above or alternatively tap More > My Profile > tap the three dot icon in upper right corner > tap Show Shortcut.

 

Scan a QR Shortcut

  1. Log into your account on the app.
  2. Tap More in the lower right corner.
  3. Tap Open Shortcut.
  4. Tap Scan Shortcut.
  5. Hold your phone over an open QR code within our app to automatically open the shared item. Note: you will need to allow the Ride with GPS app to access your phone’s camera in your phone settings. 

 

Share a Ride in Progress

Want to share your ride while you're recording it? With an upgraded Basic or Premium subscription, you can Live Log your ride to broadcast it to your friends, family, or other supporters. 

Tips on Sharing

  • If you are not signed into Facebook or X, you will be prompted for your e-mail and password for those sites.
  • If you are using Wordpress.com as your host, you may not be able to share on your blog using the Embed option. See Wordpress Support for more details.
