Did your ride have some weird elevation recorded by your GPS? Some GPS devices and smartphones just don't collect accurate elevation data. We offer a tool for all members to replace the elevation from a known world-wide dataset.

Replace Elevation Data on a Ride
- Log into your account at www.ridewithgps.com.
- Open your ride in the Ride Summary Page.
- Click More in the upper left corner > Select replace Elevation Data. After a moment the elevation data for your full ride will be replaced. Refresh the web page to see the new elevation metrics.
Enable Replace Elevations in the Mobile App
Newer phones have a barometric sensor that does a much better job of tracking elevation change, but if you have a phone using GPS-derived elevation data (typically older phones) you can opt to have the elevation points automatically replaced by our service each time you save a ride. It's the same process as uploading the ride first, then going to the website, viewing the ride, and clicking Replace Elevation.
- Log into your account on the mobile app.
- Click More > Settings > Logging.
- Scroll to the Saving section at the bottom of your screen > check the option to enable replace elevations.
Enable Your Phone's Barometric Sensor
If you have a newer iPhone, you can enable the Barometric sensor on your phone which is much more accurate for recording elevation changes than using just the GPS data. To enable this feature:
- Log into your account on the mobile app.
- Click More > Settings > Bluetooth and Sensors.
- Check the Barometric Elevation option to enable. Note: this setting is only available on iOS.
- Be sure to disable "Replace Elevation" if you enable this option.
